Wang Dan, the leader of China’s student movement, has been accused by a Taiwanese man of sexual harassment, including forced kissing and attempted rape. The accusers held a press conference on the 34th anniversary of the attack, demanding an apology or prosecution. Wang Dan later responded that he welcomed the complaint and supported the legal approach to finding the truth.

The accusers held a news conference on Sunday to explain the incident and present evidence about their time with Wang Dan in the United States.

“Why, Wang Dan, can you speak for the man who stood in front of the tanks, and continue to carry this aura, walking on the souls of those who died under the tyranny of the Communist Party? You can see their human rights, you can pay attention to their human rights, pursue these democratic freedoms, but I am now facing you, facing you Wang Dan, I am like the person standing in front of the tank.” A Taiwanese man using the alias Li Yujun on Facebook held a press conference on the 34th anniversary of June 4th.

Li continued: “I am afraid, because I think if I am not careful, I may be killed by your tank. You have too much power and too much aura than me, and your hand can even reach into the political or academic circles to suppress me, but I can only tell myself that I am not afraid.”

Li used to be a political worker in Taiwan, serving as an assistant to Lin Liang-koon, a non-party Taipei city councilman. Accompanied by Lin Liangjun and his lawyer, he held a press conference at the Taipei City Council. In addition to recounting his experiences, he also showed screenshots of his Facebook conversations with Wang Dan, as well as photos he took at Wang’s residence in the US.

Li said that after being sexually harassed by Wang Dan, he recorded his subsequent visits with Wang Dan in the United States out of fear. Wang Dan has until June 6 Taiwan time to publicly apologize to him, or he will be formally charged.

Wang posted a response on Facebook later the same day: “We welcome the complaint and support the legal approach to finding the truth.”

Wang Dan sex SAO suspect beginning and end

Li posted a Facebook post on Tuesday accusing Wang Dan of “kissing” and “attempted rape” on the night of June 6, 2014, at a hotel in Flushing, New York.

In a Facebook post, he said he met Wang Dan and his assistant surnamed Xie at a party when he was just starting out in social activism. “Wang Dan, who has appeared in my history textbooks, and his past experience of being praised for his virtues, made me yearn for him, like seeing a celebrity.” Later, Wang Dan invited him to go to the United States to “see the world.”

When Wang Dan was alone with him in a Flushing, New York, hotel room, she hugged him from behind and forcibly kissed him. “Before I knew it, Wang Dan pushed me onto the bed, kept kissing me and tried to undress myself. I was so scared that I didn’t know how to react, so I pushed him away.” Li wrote.

Li said he asked him not to do so because his anal fistula had just been operated before he came to the US. “While Wang Dan did stop, over the next week I continued to face sporadic verbal advances, sexual harassment jokes, and continued explicit insinuations that he wanted me to sleep with him.” When I responded to Xie, I only got replies such as “The teacher is joking, don’t take it seriously, he is just playing”, but I didn’t get any help.

Li said that he had endured it for nine years. “Every time on June 4th, when Wang Dan needs to speak out, I feel very sick and uneasy. I am afraid of this person, I am afraid to hear his voice, and I am afraid to see his appearance.”

Wang Dan: There is no such thing as sex

After Li’s accusation, Wang Dan, who is now in New York, made a three-point response on Facebook on Wednesday. He wrote: “First, there is no such thing as’ sexiness ‘. Second, the above is clearly stated. I have too much to do to respond. Third, my political activities will not be affected in any way. Thank you.”

Wang Dan added, “The author himself said that he chose the date of June 4th specifically, and he stressed that he hoped the political circles would treat me like this, which actually tells the story.”

Wang Dan’s response was questioned by public opinion and failed to respond positively. He posted a post later on the same day, saying, “I was surprised to find that many netizens still think I did not respond positively. I have no choice.” “There is a huge gap between what I know and what I remember,” he said. In addition, I have interacted with a large number of students and work partners, some of whom I have not been in touch with for a long time, so it is difficult for me to further respond to their unilateral descriptions.”

I was inspired by the recent incidents of political workers coming forward to accuse workplace sexual harassment in Taiwan.

Taiwan’s #Metoo storm

A number of sexual harassment allegations have been made in Taiwan recently. First, the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) revealed four cases of sexual harassment in its party, which triggered widespread discussion among local public. I would like to express my deepest apologies to the victims and to the public.”

In addition, Bei Ling, an exiled Chinese writer living in Taiwan, was recently accused by Jane Liying, a well-known Taiwanese writer and co-writer of the TV drama “The One Who Chose”, of sexually harassing her at Bei Ling’s residence when she was a college student, including touching male organs by her hand and touching her through her pants.

In a later interview with Taiwan’s Central News Agency, Mr. Bei called the accusation “a complete fabrication,” referring to “what happened to her, or didn’t happen to her, to me,” and said he would “retain the right to my reputation in law.”
