The 2023 “Copenhagen Democracy Summit” has officially opened and will be held on May 15-16 in a hybrid physical and video format. The summit invited key leaders of democratic countries around the world to speak out in defense of liberal and democratic values.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, former Prime Minister of Denmark and former Secretary-General of NATO, founded the NGO Democratic Alliance Foundation in 2017. The first Copenhagen Democracy Summit was held in Copenhagen on 22 July 2018.

“This is a valuable opportunity for Democrats from all over the world to get to know each other and build an international alliance of democracies,” Wang said. I will use this opportunity to call on heads of state and representatives of civil society to pay close attention to China’s issues, actively assist in promoting democracy in China, and call on all countries to increase their vigilance against the anti-democratic activities of the Communist Party of China around the world.”

Wang Dan also said that it is a great honor to exchange views on China with Czech President Pavel, adding that European countries’ policies towards China are undergoing and will undergo profound changes.

This year’s summit will include former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, Czech President Petr Pavel, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Stoltenberg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt and Teresa Hutson, Microsoft’s vice president of technology and corporate responsibility,
