(BOXUN) On Monday August 10, 2015 China’s Ministry of Culture published a blacklist of online music. It requests that Internet companies gather 120 Internet songs that “disrupt order.” The Ministry of Culture will strictly investigate and prosecute any Internet culture company that doesn’t cooperate.

This investigation focuses on “Beijing Bum,” “Don’t Want to Go to School,” “Suicide Diary” and 120 other pieces of Internet music with “serious content problems.” These works include that of renowned artists Zhang Zhenyue, Huang Qiusheng, Xu Gao etc. The Ministry of Culture says that this type of Internet music has obscene, violent, manipulative content harmful to social morals, is in violation of Article 21 of the “Provisional provisions on administration of Internet culture,” and has been included in an online music “blacklist” no work unit or individual may publish.
