(Boxun, Thursday August 6, 2015) At approximately 11 p.m. tonight Beijing police broke into the home of attorney Yu Wensheng and detained him on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles.” Despite showing no search warrant, many police and plainclothes officers searched his house in front of his children.

Yu Wensheng is an attorney in Beijing’s Daoheng Law Firm. On Friday July 31, 2015 he wrote an open letter to China’s National People’s Congress, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, State Council, Supreme People’s Procuratorate, Ministry of Supervision and other departments, denouncing the recent mass arrests of lawyers by the Ministry of Public Security. He charged they were intended to intimidate lawyers and citizens and were illegal and chaotic politics.
