[Bowen News exclusive report] Bowen News has learned that Xi Jinping may visit Tibet on Sept 1st. It would be Xi Jinping’s second visit to Tibet.

Information from Tibet is that in recent days police presence has increased. There are added checkpoints on roads into Tibet and more armored vehicles with machine guns on patrol. In sum: Tibet has an increased military and police presence, more visible armed force, and has implemented stricter registration and checking procedures for those entering and leaving Tibet.

Sources said that Tibet is preparing to implement a new policy of “completely eliminating the influence of the Dalai Lama.” This shows that in addition to the Communist Party increasing its repression and control in Tibet, it’s imposing stricter control on ethnic minorities who already have their freedom strictly limited. What’s not clear is whether the Communist Party is going to cut off private communication with the Dalai Lama.

Bowen News has also learned that the Chinese military is currently actively preparing for two celebrations: the National Day military parade on October 1 and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region on September 1.

On July 18, 2011, when Xi Jinping was a member of the Chinese Communist Party Politburo Standing Committee, PRC vice president, and Central Military Commission vice chairman, he led a central delegation to Lhasa to attend the opening ceremony of the “Accomplishments of 60 Years of Peaceful Liberation in Tibet” and visited the accompanying exhibition.
