Activist Wu Gan, already in detention, is formally arrested

On Friday, July 3, 2015, Attorney Yan Wenxin said: “I just received a telephone call from the Xiamen City (Fujian Province) People’s Procuratorate notifying me that they have approved the formal arrest of Wu Gan on the criminal charges of inciting subversion of state power and picking quarrels and creating disturbances.”

On June 27, 2015, Wu Gan (aka The Butcher) was detained on suspicion of the three criminal charges of picking quarrels and creating disturbances, slander, and inciting subversion of state power.
