More than 20,000 tons of industrial salt sold as table salt in seven provinces

(BOXUN) On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, the Ministry of Public Security announced that more than 20,000 tons of fake table salt had been sold in seven provinces.

According to the Ministry’s announcement, criminal suspectssurnamed Wang and Jiang rented a factory in the Beijing suburb of Daxing County. They purchased packaging equipment and registered an industrial salt sales company as cover. Then they imported a large volume of industrial salt and packaged it as individual satchels of table salt. Through the Internet and long-distance truck drivers, they sold these to vendors, food-processing workshops and others.

Currently 22 suspects have been detained.
