(BOXUN)  – The Domestic Security Protection Bureau denied permission for attorney Yan Xin to meet with his client, activist Wu Gan, known online as “Super Vulgar Butcher.”

Yongtai County, Fujian Province: On the morning of Tuesday, June 30, 2015, police investigators delivered to attorney Yan Xin the Public Security Ministry’s “Decision of refusal to meet with suspected criminal.” Police detained his client, Wu Gan, on suspicion he incited subversion of state power, a subset of the law against endangering national security. The reason for the denial was that the meeting between attorney and client could impede the investigation or reveal state secrets. The refusal cited “People’s Republic of China Code of Criminal Procedure” Article 37 Paragraph 3.

Attorney Yan Xin said he will appeal the denial to the Xiamen Municipality, Fujian Province Public Security Bureau.
