15 shot dead in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region

Boxun received information that on Monday, June 22, 2015, 15 citizens, one police officer and one auxiliary police officer were shot dead in Kashgar, a city in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region.

According to this information, police were investigating a report at midnight on Monday, June 22, of a driver going the wrong direction near a residential area on North Xinchun Road. While the police were investigating, they were attacked. The police reacted quickly, shooting many people. The person who was driving the car fled, and 20 minutes later was shot dead after he ran a checkpoint. At 12:40 a.m. another car drove through a checkpoint and its occupants were shot dead. At 12:50 a.m. another group riding a pedicab threw Molotov cocktails and crashed into cars on the side of the road. They were also shot and killed. More than 100 Molotov cocktails were recovered, as well as seven bombs and three broadswords. Authorities have labelled these as terrorist attacks.
