Netizen “Perry” arrested for public commemoration of Tiananmen Massacre

On Saturday June 13, 2015 Sichuan netizen “Perry” was criminally detained for the crimes of “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” and “disturbing public order.” On the June 4, 2015 anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre he wore black clothing on a bustling street in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, and wrote 6.4 in lipstick on his face. He was detained by police from the Chunxi Road station.

“Perry” is the screen name of Cheng Aihua, but the name he commonly uses is Cheng Wanyun. He is 45 years old and from Nanchong County in Sichuan Province. In February 2013, Cheng Wanyun was detained for the crime of “inciting subversion of state power” for a Twitter posting, but was assisted by fellow netizens and released.
