About 10,000 workers strike

On Saturday February 7, 2015, 10,000 Hebei Province Iron and Steel Group Wuyang Iron and Steel Corporation workers went on strike, demanding payment of their wages. That morning, 10,000 workers gathered at the Wuyang Iron and Steel Corporation office building and blocked traffic in front of the entrance. This resulted in the workers being beaten by the corporation’s security guards.

The Henan Province Pingdingshan city government dispatched a large number of police to the scene, and the demonstrating workers dispersed at noon.
Wuyang Iron and Steel Corporation was founded in 1970, originally as a military project. It currently employs more than 16,000 people.
