On Monday, Jan. 29, 2015, Caixin Online’s report on “The Circumstances Behind National Statistics Regarding Communist Party Members’ and Cadres’ Unnatural Deaths” was deleted from Caixin Online. So was its appearance on Sina Weibo (http://news.sina.com.cn/c/2015-01-29/101431457443.shtml).

According to the Global Times, the deleted report said 50 Party members and government officials died of “unnatural causes” since 2012. The Times said the Chinese government had launched an investigation into the cause of suicide among public officials. Its article quoted a political science professor saying the government crackdown on corruption had created a lot of stress and depression among officials.
