On Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, Sun Lin told a Boxun reporter that the day before, 50 people nationwide had been detained or prevented from getting to Nanjing for Sun’s wedding to Wang Chuanying. For example, Chongqing democracy activist Zhang Qi was told: “If you go to participate in the wedding ceremony, we’ll arrest you.”  Zhang Qi stayed home.

Sun Lin asked that the international community, international media, and international human rights organizations pay close attention to this matter. He also demanded that the communist regime immediately stop pressuring democracy activists and political dissidents from holding wedding ceremonies or birthday celebrations.

Sun Lin told Boxun that he canceled the wedding celebration and turned it into a lunch in the hotel for whoever was able to reach it.

Sun Lin said everyone had been released, probably in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday January 25, 2015. However, southern street activist Gu Pin was detained around 8  a.m. He was finally released at 5 p.m. when police brought him to the train station and let him buy a ticket to leave Nanjing.
