State-owned company fails to pay hundreds of workers

Lingshan County, Qinzhou City, Guangxi Province: Tongfang Hechen Precision Electronic Science and Technology Corporation owes workers several months’ salaries. On Dec. 24, 2014 hundreds of workers in two factory parks began striking, blocking roads and demonstrating in front of the Lingshan County government headquarters.

On Wednesday,Jan. 7, 2015, 700 workers again demonstrated in the city proper and in front of the Lingshan County Communist Party Committee. The local government dispatched a large number of police officers to seize protest banners and detain protesters.

Worker “Sir zzf” said: They also arrested several peasant workers.

Qinzhou City and Hechen Electronic Science and Technology Corporation belongs to the direct holding company of Qinghua Tongfang Limited Liability Corporation, situated in Qinzhou City, Hedong Industrial Zone as well as Lingshan County Shili Zuomeng ecological industrial zone. The holding company is a state-owned enterprise associated with the prestigious Tsinghau University in Beijing.
