Yutang Village, Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province: On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, the government forcibly demolished villagers’ houses without paying any compensation. More than 100 police officers confronted protesting villagers. Five villagers were seriously injured and hospitalized, and two were arrested.

A villager with the username “In a Sad and Lonely Place” wrote: Mabuyutang Township concentrated more than 100 people to tyrannize average people. They paid to have people beaten. The common village folks didn’t receive any compensation for their demolished houses. No payment, no consultation, no resolution, they just started demolishing houses and beating people.
