“History of Brainwashing” author Bo Zhibin has been missing for three months, and may have been detained by police.

On September 14, 2014, Boxun reported: “History of Brainwashing” author Bo Zhibin was on his way to a Chongqing gathering with friends when he went missing. Boxun’s reporter has learned that Bo Zhibin has been missing for three months. There is still no additional information. Because his family doesn’t welcome outside scrutiny, friends suspect that Bo Zhibin has already been arrested.

Renowned online activist Wu Gan on Tuesday December 16, 2014 said: “Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province native and “History of Brainwashing” author Bo Zhibin’s Book has not been published in China but is for sale on Taobao (Alibaba-owned online commerce site similar to Ebay). On his way driving to Chongqing to gather with fellow netizens for an exchange of views, Bo was detained by Nanchang police for the crime of engaging in illegal business activity. Because his family doesn’t welcome outside scrutiny, friends suspect that Bo Zhibin has already been formally arrested.

After the September 2014 Mid-autumn Festival, Bo drove a car with the Jiangxi license plate number A-K4782 to Chongqing to meet with Book fans when he disappeared. The last time Bo Zhibin contacted people was before dawn September 10, 2014. After Bo Zhibin went missing, Chongqing friend Li Liang made a call requesting that those who know the facts of Bo’s case reveal news of him. Boxun’s reporter called Li Liang this evening, but he’d already turned off his phone.

Hong Kong media personage Cai Yongmei wrote on Twitter: “Bo Zhibin said on WeiBo (China’s most popular, Twitter-ike social media platform): Hong Kong compatriots: We want to eat shit! Central authorities: There’s shit, let’s eat it together. Hong Kong people: We don’t want to eat shit! Central Authorities: Good! You organize everyone to not eat shit, you bear responsibility! England: The year we signed the Basic Agreement, we guaranteed that there will be food to eat. Central authorities: The whole country eats shit, why won’t Hong Kong people eat shit? You’re interfering in domestic matters. England: This violates the Joint Declaration handover agreement. Central authorities: That year you also ate shit.”

But Boxun’s reporter did not see this on WeiBo. If these words supporting Hong Kong people’s struggle for universal suffrage were written by Bo Zhibin, his arrest was certainly related to his support of Occupy Central, and conducting illegal business is just a trumped-up charge used to arrest him.
