Boxun has learned that on Monday December 15, 2014, due to Xu Chongyang being jailed over gathering with a group of friends to celebrate the Occupy Central protests in Hong Kong, the attorney representing him twice went to the detention center–on Wednesday December 10, 2014 and Friday December 12, 2014–demanding to see his client and met with difficulties. Since Xu Chongyang was arrested, outside of the police he has not been seen by anyone.

At present, based on various sources of information, friends of Xu Chongyang suspect he’s being tortured to extract a confession, or else why would the police not allow him to see his lawyer? The police have used all kinds of devious means to prevent his lawyer from seeing him.

Xu Chongyang was originally an entrepreneur in Wuhan in Hubei Province. Because his business was confiscated he became a petitioner and protested for many years. He was violently punished by the authorities many times. In 2011 he was secretly detained and tortured (Boxun published video of him being tortured). Boxun has detailed documentation of Xu Chongyang’s arrest by Fengtai County, Beijing police for “creating a disturbance.”
