Hundreds of teachers in three provinces go on strike

In Guangdong Province on the morning of Dec. 16, 2014, more than 300 temporary teachers in Haifeng County, Shanwei City, sat in at the county government headquarters to demand equal pay for equal work and that the government redress their status as temporary. They continued to sit-in until late that night. On the same day, teachers at Longshan Middle School in Lufeng City went on strike over back pay the school owes them.

That day in Yunnan Province,  Ludian County, Zhaotong City, teachers at Number One Middle School went on strike after a student hit and injured a teachers. In Anyang City, Henan Province, hundreds of teachers gathered at the Anyang city government headquarters and protested the merger of Anyang City Vocational Institute with the Vocational Middle School.
