Police seize corpses, battle residents after explosion kills five

Shuangqing District, Shaoyang City, Hunan Provicnce: At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, a fireworks shop on Shehu Mountain exploded, killing five people.

An eyewitness said: At Shaoyang Road, there was a big confrontation with police. After the explosion, police rushed to the site, where they seized the corpses, confiscated cell phones and prohibited photographs of the scene. A thousand people and hundreds of riot police, traffic police, and firefighters confronted each other for more than seven hours.

An eyewitness said: A family of five surnamed Liu was burned to death by a fire caused by a high-tension electrical wire. It looked like doomsday. Two of the dead were children! The government feared an angry popular response and in trying to cover-up the incident beat and injured victims.
