2,000 laid-off workers demand compensation in Suzhou

Shenghua Group of Taiwan has recently closed several subsidiaries, including Dongguan Wanshida Liquid Crystal Display Monitor Corporation in Guangdong Province, Liansheng Science and Technology Corporation, and Lianjian Science and Technology Corporation. As a result, nearly 10,000 workers have been laid off. Workers of the three companies have been protesting for several days over compensation issues.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, 2,000 workers from Lianjian Science and Technology Corporation in the Suzhou Industrial Zone in Jiangsu Province gathered at the company gates to protest the corporation’s compensation, which they believed was too low.

Founded in 1990, Shenghua Science and Technology Corporation is a manufacturer of touch panels and medium and small-sized LCD monitors. Its subsidiaries include Dongguan Wanshida LCD Monitor Corporation, Liansheng Science and Technology Corporation, and Lianjian Science and Technology Corporation.
