Police attack workers demanding unpaid wages

Chonghui Village, Sanya City, Hainan Island: The Province Holiday Inn Hotel engineering project is one month behind in paying wages to its workers. On Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 the workers launched a demonstration. They carried a sign saying: “Return my sweat and blood money!” and marched to the local Labor Bureau to demand their back wages.

Worker “Hou Xianggong” said: Workers en route to the Labor Bureau were confronted and beaten by dozens of local police and pepper sprayed. More than 10 workers were injured, and one worker more than 60 years old was seriously injured and hospitalized.
