On Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, diplomats from the European Union, Holland, Sweden, and Switzerland went to human rights lawyer Ni Yulan’s house to pay her a visit. But State Security police, claiming to be residents, prevented the delegation from entering. The would-be visitors then went to the house of Ni Yulan’s daughter,Beibei. Police had locked her inside. Beibei put her hand through a crack in the door and shook hands with her visitors.

Boxun’s reporter learned by telephone that while the diplomats were there, neighbors were prevented from going out. After the diplomats left, the police interrogated the local residents and examined their ID cards. According to our investigation, there are 50 to 60 State Security police in front of Ni Yulan’s house. The younger brother of Ni Yulan’s husband, Dong Jiqin, tried to visit but the police wouldn’t let him enter. At Beibei’s house, five to six police officers stand guard.
