Mainland rights activists arrested for supporting Hong Kong Occupy Central protests

Boxun has learned that because Ningdu City, Jiangxi Province rights activist Song Ningsheng supported the Occupy Central protests in Hong Kong, Ningdu County police searched his house searched and then detained him.  At the same time, about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 60 to 70 police officers also detained Gong Xinhua and Chen Maosen.

A group of rights activists and petitioners in Jiangxi Province were formerly known as the Nine Masters. One of them, Hu Yuhuao, disappeared on September 17, 2014 en route to Suzhou. The others, including Song Ningsheng, Gong Xinhua, Chen Maosen, began a search. On the afternoon of Sunday, September 28, 2014, the group looking for Hu Yuhao shaved their heads in solidarity with the Hong Kong protesters. The group included Jiang Jianjun, Sun Tao, Yu Fu, Zhai Yanmin, Gong Xinhua, and Song Ningsheng.

For supporting the Hong Kong protesters, in addition to Song Ningsheng, Gong Xinhua and Chen Maosen being arrested, Wang Long, Shen Yanqiu, Luo Yaling and others have been detained and Han Liang, Xie Dan, Jiang Liuyong, Liu Xiaoxiang have been threatened.
