More than 1,000 workers continue strike after violent police crackdown

(BOXUN) The Shenzhen Longgang Hengxin Metals Manufacturing Plant is relocating to Huizhou, Guangdong Province, and refuses to pay workers’ relocation compensation. More than 1,000 workers have been on strike for days to protest this. On Wednesday September 17, while the workers were blocking the factory gate, hundreds of police violently suppressed them. Many workers were beaten, one hospitalized and four were arrested.

On Thursday September 18, the strike is continuing.

Hengxin Metals Manufacturing Plant was founded in Hong Kong in September 1964. In 1979 a large-scale production plant founded with Hong Kong capital was established in Longgang, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It produces watchbands, watch covers, women’s jewelry and computer production of spare parts and fittings.
