12 girls sexually assaulted by teacher. Parents demanding school transfer are arrested.

In Lingwu City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Wednesday September 10, 2014, because 12 female students had been sexually molested by their teacher, their parents went to the Municipal Education and Sports Bureau to negotiate a school transfer for their children. But they came into conflict with the police, and on a charge of disrupting workplace order two of the parents were detained and five received police warnings.

According to reports, 12 female students in a village school, in the name of doing a school assignment, were serially sexually molested for at least one year by a teacher surnamed Huang. In April of this year Huang was arrested by the Lingwu City police. A parent surnamed Ma said that after the molestation was discovered, the children suffered trauma. Although 10 had returned to school, when school let out they cried and didn’t want to continue in the same school. The two other students didn’t return to school.

The parents hoped to arrange for their daughters to transfer schools. But they couldn’t come to an agreement with the Municipal Education and Sports Bureau. On Wednesday September 10 they returned but couldn’t find the person in charge, so they went to the Juvenile Protection Center on the seventh floor to report the problem. The police tried to stop them and a fight broke out. The Lingwu City government said on its website that the parents had initiated the conflict and attacked the police. One person had been injured and sent to the hospital, constituting illegal disruption of workplace order. Two parents surnamed Bai and Li were jailed and five parents received a police warning.
