Huanghai College in Qingdao City, Shandong Province recruited too many students this year, so they compelled undergraduates who’d already completed a year to drop out. At noon on Wednesday September 10, more than 1,000 students protest marched with banners reading: “Swindler school,” “Return my youth,” “Return my tuition” etc. They demanded the school return their tuition or let them continue to study and receive their diplomas.

Reportedly students who entered the college in the years 2012 and 2013 weren’t formally registered. When the school admitted too many students this year, it expelled students who’d already been attending for 1-2 years. This resulted in the students demonsrating. But a group of students was sequestered in their dormitory and couldn’t get out. And the school cut off their water and electricity supply to force them to leave.

After this event, the school blockaded the dormitory building and school entrance. Students were not allowed to leave, and the police came to guard the school.
