Zhongxin Chemical Factory in the center of Huojia County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province has polluted the air with a toxic stench for an extended period of time. On Tuesday September 9, 2014 at 8 a.m. more than 1,000 citizens gathered at the city government headquarters, marched, and displayed banners reading: “Beautify Huojia, oppose pollution” and “Zhongxin Chemical Factory get out of Huojia,” and demanded the government get rid of polluting industries. At noon, after the government promised that Zhongxin Chemical would immediately stop production, the citizens dispersed.
