Hundreds of property owners in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province blocked traffic; police responded with force

On the evening of August 12, 2014, hundreds of property owners at Crystal Blue Uptown housing development, Qiandeng Township, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, blocked traffic to protest high parking fees charged by management. They were violently dispersed by almost 100 police officers and SWAT team members. Scores of onlookers—senior citizens, women and even old ladies—were arrested, and some were beaten enough to be bruised.

Property owners at Jinglan Uptown housing development started to protest on August 11 after management suddenly decided to charge ¥250 a month for parking.
