(Initially released on 8/13/2014, Beijing Time)

On August 12, 2014, petitioners in Beijing gathered to voice their support of Xiang Nanfu, a Boxun reporter arrested by the Beijing Public Security Bureau. Petitioners said they would send forth positive energy to Xiang Nanfu, to redress the injustice suffered by petitioners and to speak out for justice! The content of his reports is in compliance with the gist of the anti-corruption launched by Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping and they serve to help the fight to catch tigers and flies (corrupt officials). Even though there may be some errors and in his reports, they don’t constitute a crime, because errors are inevitable in any media or report by anyone. Should that be a criminal offense? If all media become silent, who will speak for the Party and the state? We strongly ask that the authorities observe the 《国际记者公约》(TRANSLATOR NOTE, CHECK WITH SOURCE, THERE IS NO SUCH CONVENTION/TREATY) “International Convention for Reporters”) and release Xiang Nanfu without charge!!!

Gathered supporters of Xiang Nanfu include: Wu Jixin, Li Shunan, Tang Shuxiu, Wu Lijuan, Zhang Guirong, Wu Guihua, Tong Yueju, Yang Zhongsheng, Ma Changshan, Li Qiuwei, Wang Jiwei, Yang Yaling, Wen Huazhi, Tang Liqiong, Peng Yangxiu, Liu Fuhe, Yang Xiumei, Hou Minling, Shen Futian, Wu Yuanze, Zhuo Zhizhong, Huang Daxuan, Xi Shiwen, Liu Shibao, Liu Jinguang, Bai Yuxue, Wu Youming, Shen Lixiu, Li Jianzhu, Wang Yuexiang, Ran Mingfang, Li Xiumei, Huang Xinmin etc.
