Starting May 7, thousands of residents began protesting against building Asia’s largest garbage burning plant in Hangzhou.

On May 10, police started to attack the protesters, possibly killing a few. One witness said that a 3-year-old was thrown from the bridge by police.

That night, communications were cut off.

The Chinese government has issued orders allowing police to carry guns. The police department of Guangdong Province even announced 15 circumstances in which police can shoot people.
