Chen Weiming, a famous artist fighting for Chinese democracy for years, left New York for Turkey on October 14th. Chen held a brief press conference before departure (video).

Chen Weiming left China many years ago and immigrated to New Zealand. He moved to Las Vegas to continue his work as an artist about six years ago. Chen Weiming has devoted himself to Chinese democracy while working as an artist. In June 2010, he was prevented by Hong Kong from attending the ceremony of the June 4th Massacre where his artwork – large sculptures – were displayed. The sculptures were sent to the Campus of the Hong Kong Chinese University where they were left permanently.

Why does Chen Weiming risk his life to join the anti-government army in Syria? He argues: “China has received support for empowering democracy from many countries, while the Chinese government has been supporting the dictatorship of Syria, and it is time to show the Syrian people that the Chinese people are with them”.

Boxun has been publishing the latest information about Chen Weiming in Syria. In the latest article published today (November 11, 2012), Chen Weiming is fighting with soldiers for the liberty of the Syrian people.
When Chen Weiming was in Turkey, he told Boxun that the anti-government army needs help, they do not have weapons and other equipment. Many men want to fight but cannot get guns.
