The trial regarding human right activist, Zhou Li, instigated petitioners protesting against Beijing University professor Sun Dongdong’s statement about 99% of Chinese petitioners are mentally ill, was held at Chong Wen District Court Tuesday morning.

Plaintiff arranged witnesses attending the testimony. However, no direct evidences were provided in order to prove Zhou Li was guilty.

Some witnesses said Zhou Li tried to persuade petitioners not to protest against Sun Dongdong, but the court refused allowing them to testify on behalf of the defendant as identities and information of these witnesses had not been passed to the plaintiff.

The court was adjourned due to this reason. Date and time of next trial has not been announced.

Zhou Li was arrested in last August, as a single monther, she left 18 months son behind to the nanny. Zhou Li has not seen her son in at least four months. Nanny went to the court in early morning with Zhou Li’s son -DanDan (nick name) in order to let Zhou Li saw DanDan. Zhou Li did see DanDan, but very shortly, the police tried to block her sight and pushed her into the court.

Zhou Li’s attorney is the famous lawyer Mo Shaoping and Mr. Ma from Mo’s Office.

Zhou Li was the most active person to help Deng Yujiao in 2009. She went to YeSanGuan with a few other volunteers and sent pictures and videos to Boxun instantly. Deng Yujiao’s story was reported by almost all media globally. Zhou was also involved in many human rights activities.
