When Dr. Feng Chong Yi returned to GuangZhou on June 5, 2009 after attending an international academic conference held in Hong Kong, his books and research information, which related to Chinese history and issues of modern China, were confiscated by the custom.

Dr. Feng said the action has seriously violated his freedom, especially under the circumstance that the custom department detained the materials without going through any legal producers. Therefore, he decided to accuse the GuangZhou custom department for infringing his personal and intellectual property rights.

Dr. Feng emphasized a law enforcement entity like the custom should take the lead in following the law instead of encroaching various rights that the citizens deserve to have.
