(Photos) Government Refutes Rumors: Xi Jinping Has Not Been Selected a Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission

Boxun reports that following the recent conclusion of the fourth plenum of the 17th Communist Party Central Committee Congress, Xi Jinping was not as expected named vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission. Contrary to standard operating procedure, a work report resulting from the plenum has still not been issued. The Jiang Zemin-led princeling faction was the first to leak a story, behind the Hong Kong-based Ming Bao’s report “Fourth Plenum Approves Xi Jinping Promotion to Vice-Chairmanship of Central Military Commission.” The article suggested that this promotion will be publicly announced at an expanded meeting of the Central Military Commission following the October 1 National Day 60th anniversary celebration. But Hu Jintao contradicted this announcement by convening a press conference, and via the Party School Director Wang Changjiang revealing “The Party plenum did not address this Central Military Commission appointment question.” This loudly and clearly refuted the rumor that the princeling faction was floating about Xi’s promotion.
