Jiang Zemin-Hu Jintao political conflict has already passed on to the next generation in the form of Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang

Boxun reports that Xi Jinping is not Hu Jintao’s chosen successor to become Communist Party leader. Hu has patronized and promoted Li Keqiang and Li Yuanchao, and groomed them to succeed him. Xi Jinping’s position as heir-apparent is not due to his outstanding ability but completely because during the 17th Communist Party Congress, under duress from Zeng Qinghong, struck a political compromise over Xi Jinping’s successor status.

Jiang Zemin’s family–as head of the Shanghai faction in the leadership–and Zeng Qinghong–in his corresponding role in the Princeling faction–have left nothing to chance in promoting Xi Jinping as first among equals in the fifth generation of Communist Party leaders. Xi’s wife Peng Liyuan has taken a prominent public service role on television, and during last year’s Sichuan earthquake their teenaged daughter was featured prominently in Party propaganda for her role as a “volunteer disaster relief worker.”
