Boxun reports that at 8 a.m. on Monday August 12, the police took Zhou Li into custody from her home for questioning. She was not permitted to bring her cell phone. She did not know what specific department the police were from.

Recently the Chinese government has been carrying out a harsh crackdown on all dissident activity, muzzling free speech, arbitrarily arresting people, threatening those who write on the web and specifically targeting lawyers who are willing to take on politically sensitive issues and cases. This is one of the most politically repressive periods seen in China in many years.
