Ningxia bus arson attack kills 17, injures 32

(BOXUN) At 7:03 a.m. on Tuesday January 5, 2016, there was an arson attack on public bus number 301 on State Highway 109 at the Guoqiguan exit in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province. It’s reported that 17 passengers were killed and 32 injured.

Police soures said that the motive of arrested suspect Ma Yongping was revenge on society. The police said that based on preliminary evidence, he’s a construction worker in the Helan County Resettlement District project and due to a dispute over back wages took this extreme revenge action. Ma carried two plastic containers of gasoline onto the bus and used a lighter to ignite them, then climbed out the driver’s seat window.

On June 7, 2013 there was an arson attack on a bus in Xiamen, Fujian Province and 48 people died. The criminal suspect was a 60-year-old political petitioner. He was burned to death at the scene.

On February 27, 2014, on public bus number 237 on South Jinyang Road in Yunyan District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, an arson attack occurred. Six passengers were killed and 35 injured. Police said the suspect Mr. Su’s motive was revenge on society. He ignited a canister of gasoline on the bus, causing this tragedy. Su was sentenced to death.

>On May 12, 2014, at South Gate Bridge on the number 14 bus in Yibin City, Sichuan Province, at approximately 4:50 p.m., an arson attack occurred. One person was killed and 70 injured. The suspected arson is Yu Yuehai, he was the person who was burned to death.

On July 5, 2014, there was an arson attack on the number 7 bus in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province. 32 people were injured. The suspect Bao Laixu is from Gansu Province. He poured flammable liquid over himself and ignited it.

On July 15, 2014, there was an arson attack on the number 301 bus. Two people were killed and 33 injured (21 injured seriously). Eyewitnesses saw a man ignite an explosive and then jump off the bus. The suspect was arrested, he’s a man from Hunan Province.

These are just a sample of bus arson attacks in the past several years.
