Official leaps to his death

(BOXUN Translation) At 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, a mid-level official in the Weinan City, Chengcheng County Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of his office building.

The deceased official, Mister Qiao, was the Environmental Protection Agency Monitoring Station head. Forty years old, he was only promoted n April this year to be station head.

After the death, Chengcheng County police launched an immediate investigation and sealed the fifth floor corridor entrance and related office with police security tape.

According to an EPA official who asked not to be named, at the start of work on Thursday May 21, 2015 Weinan City EPA leaders went to the monitoring station office to supervise their work. The leader of the group was the Weinan City EPA discipline inspection team chief. Mister Qiao was the last official they met with.

“Less then five minutes after Mister Qiao left the office, he jumped from a fifth floor window. By the time the ambulance got there he was already dead.”

The police have ruled out murder as the cause of death, but they’re still investigating the real reason, said the Chengcheng County Propaganda Department.
