To protect against coups and assassinations, Deputy Minister of Public Security Liu Yanping dismissed

On Monday May 18, 2015 official media revealed the State Council’s (China’s Cabinet) appointment and dismissal of some national staff members. Among those dismissed was Deputy Minister of Public Security Liu Yanping.

Related reports indicate that the dismissal was due to reaching retirement age, but Boxun has learned that Liu Yanping had close relationships with Zhou Yongkang and Leng Jihua, including sharing mistresses. Informed sources reveal that Liu Yanping regularly secretly goes to Hong Kong to meet his mistress from the Central Ballet Troupe.

Liu Yanping is the former Director of the Public Security Ministry Guards Bureau and deputy director of the Guards Bureau’s security apparatus. His removal continues the earlier dismissals of former Guards Bureau director Cao Qing, deputy director Wang Qing, the goal of which is aimed at guarding against coups and assassinations.

Liu Yanping was born in August 1955, a native of Fengnan County, Hebei Province. In 1973 he graduated from Beijing’s Huiwen Middle School. In 1974 he was sent to labor in Beijing’s Tongxian County. After graduating from the China University of Politics and Law as a Law major, he went to work in the Beijing Public Security Bureau Guards Bureau as a deputy section chief, then section chief, then deputy department chief, then department chief, then Beijing Public Security Bureau deputy director, then Beijing Public Security Bureau Guards Bureau deputy director, then Ministry of Public Security Guards Bureau political commissar. In December 1979 he became a Communist Party member.

2009 became Ministry of Public Security Guards Bureau director;

August 2011 became Ministry of Public Security Assistant Minister, Communist Party Committee member, People’s Armed Police major general;

In June 2013 he became Deputy Minister of the Public Security Ministry and Communist Party Committee member;

In May 2015 he was removed as Deputy Minister of the Public Security Ministry and Communist Party Committee member.
