On Monday, April 6, 2015, villagers in Luoding County, Guangdong Province protested against a new China Resources waste incineration project in Langtang Township. They were attacked by many police and hired thugs. Dozens were hurt, and a nine-year-old child was beaten and severely injured.

On Tuesday, April 7, tens of thousands of villagers carried beer bottles, kitchen gas canisters, cleavers, iron rods, stones and other weapons  to police headquarters.

Local villagers sent out a message saying: “To defend our homes, we resolutely oppose the construction of a waste incineration plant! You’ve caused this popular anger. Police vehicles are being burned and overturned. The police headquarters was almost burned to the ground. All because of the Chinese Resources cement plant. Thousands of villagers continue to protest.”
