Boxun has learned that on Wednesday March 25, 2015, Chengdu (the capital of Sichuan Province) democracy activist Chen Yunfei and more than 20 others went to Xinjin County to sweep the graves of Tiananmen Massacre victims Wu Guofeng and Xiao Jie. They were confronted by more than 100 Chengdu police and taken to a local police station. At present, all the other participants have been released except for Chen Yunfei.

Friends of Chen Yunfei suspect that he’s been detained on criminal charges. On the evening of Thursday March 26, 2015 Boxun’s correspondent called Chen Yunfei’s cell phone many times but it went unanswered.

Before the 2007 anniversary of the June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Massacre, Chen Yunfei succeeded in placing an adverstisement in the Chengdu Evening News that read: “Paying tribute to the steadfast Mothers of June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Massacre victims.” As a result of this the editor and advertising director of the Chengdu Evening News were punished. Because the person who handled Chen Yunfei’s advertisement didn’t know what “June 4” meant, they thought it was referring to a mining accident and the advertisement was published.
