As many of you know, our Constitution is under attack by those, within our government, who have sworn an oath to uphold, and protect it. From this we can clearly gather that they are dishonest people, whose personal agenda is more important than their word.
One of the most subtle methods they use to subvert the Constitution is by changing our collective thinking about freedom. The Constitution clearly guarantees individual liberties, and limits government control of our individual lives.
Decades ago, during the Great Depression, when fear and desperation ruled, the people were duped into the idea that the government could solve our problems. This gave birth to the progressive policies, that have nearly ruined our nation. Under the guise of, “helping” us, they have passed an ever increasing number of invasive regulations, that negate our individual liberties. 150 years ago, you didn’t need a license to fish, a permit to build a house, or addition, cut hair, open a business, etc. There wasn’t even an income tax! They passed these regulations, then charged you for the permits, adding to your cost of doing business.
Slowly they have boiled us in the pot of safety, until that safety is more desirable than personal liberty to many Americans, who think they are still free.
The other way they have done this, is through the idea of collectivism. Dividing us into groups that “need” special rights. If this isn’t a direct attack on the Constitution, I am a handsome, well adjusted man.
Anytime you afford a collective special rights, it immediately negates the individual rights of another. A Christian bakers right, to refuse to use his talents to make a cake that would violate his deeply held beliefs, is now vilified, and he is personally persecuted for his refusal. This kind of action ignores the very idea of our founding documents, that guarantees that you cannot use your rights to trample down my rights.
This has become an emotional issue, and emotion is the darkest enemy to freedom. This is why emotions must be suspended when discussing our personal liberties. Emotions are fickle. They vacillate from one extreme to another, in a moment.
The emotion of fear is why we, The Peoples Convoy, are fighting this battle today. When we were unsure of what we needed to do, when Covid first hit us, when the media was capitalizing on that fear and uncertainty, this government swooped in and locked us all down. The agencies that we’ve been trained to trust, but forgot, were funded by the government, told us exactly what to do, and in large part, we just followed, willingly giving up our freedoms.
Personally, I’m not just looking for an end to this Covid fiasco. I’m looking for an end to all of the invasions of my individual liberties. Give me freedom, or give me death, was the rallying cry against tyranny 246 years ago, and it is my cry today. I will not be a slave to other men. Enough is enough.
