Memorial services for Zhang Qing were held overseas

An online memorial service for Zhang Qing, the wife of Chinese activist Guo Feixiong, was held Monday morning, a week after her death in the United States. Nearly 100 experts, scholars, human rights workers, lawyers and dissidents from around the world attended the memorial service.

The service was led by Quaid Chan, a prominent pro-democracy activist, executive director of the China Society at Princeton and editor of China Online. The service was streamed live on social media site YouTube. The memorial service began with a minute’s silence for Ms. Zhang Qing and a prayer by Pastor Wang Zhiyong.

Among those attending the ceremony were Anyou Lai, an American expert on China, and Hou Zhiming, a French expert on China.

While commemorating Zhang qing’s great life as a mother and wife, the memorial also called on the Communist Party authorities to release Zhang qing’s husband guo Feixiong (real name Yang Maodong) as a basic humanitarian act and allow him to freely come to the United States to mourn Zhang Qing with their children and deal with the aftermath.

Zhang qing died early on January 10 in Maryland, the US, after being treated for advanced cancer. And her Sir Guo Feixiong because think of the United States to take care of sick wife to be prevented by public security because of trying every means, be missing many months, Zhang Qing fails to see on the husband before dying last one side, also did not know his whereabouts even.
