Merchants protesting forced eviction jump from fifth-story roof; one dead, two injured

Boxun’s correspondent has learned that on the morning of Friday, August 21, 2015, because of a forced eviction at the site of Yunnan Province’s Kunming Snail Bay Mall, several merchants collectively jumped from the roof of the five-story building. Netizens reported that the scene was “too horrible to look at.” Netizens also revealed that one died and two were injured.

At 7:49 p.m., Sina Microblog certified site Jindong Common People’s Network general manager Zhou Licheng issued this statement: “This morning, because of Yunnan Province’s Kunming Snail Bay Mall’s forced eviction, some merchants jumped from the building. At present relevant government departments have sent the injured to the hospital for emergency treatment.”
