On Monday June 8, 2015, Boxun founder Watson Meng was flying from Hong Kong to Bangkok when his bag was stolen. Because other passengers identified the thief, there was no loss of property. The motive of the thief wasn’t clear.

Flight attendants said the man was apprehended after a passenger reported how the man went right to the luggage rack, quickly took the bag, and went to the back of the cabin. Then he circled around in front of another toilet and sat next to an accomplice. The plane attendant inspected and found that Meng’s cash had already been transferred to another black bag. After Watson Meng made an inventory, he didn’t find any property missing.

Information acquired from the passport said that the thief’s name is Shen Hongfu and he’s from Henan Province in China. This man flatly denied stealing the bag. Several eyewitnesses, including flight attendants, testified that the man took the bag. There is some question about whether his passport is genuine, since a check showed it does not exist in the Chinese official system.

Flight attendants confirmed that when the plane landed they reported this to the police and the local police will investigate it.
