Boxun news: New Zealand-based freelance writer Wang Ning secured a three-day visa before Chinese New Year and had an incident-free return to his family’s home in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia. Until Sunday February 22, 2015 he wasn’t summoned by the police and freely entered and exited his family’s home without harrassment. Wang Ning believes that this is a sign of progress on the part of the authorities.

For the past several years Wang Ning has been working as a freelance writer, publishing on Boxun’s site rights defense stories and commentaries. But because of various reasons he has never secured a Boxun journalist’s card.

When our reporter contacted Wang Ning by telephone he several times reminded him to take care of himself and his family and keep a low-profile while visiting home and then quickly return to New Zealand. He also told Wang Ning to respect his mother’s wishes and listen to his younger brothers’ views in order to avoid conflict with them.

From the communication, it was clear that Wang Ning had different views from his mother and brothers. Boxun opposes violence in words or deeds, and hopes that Wang Ning’s visit with his relatives goes smoothly and that his visit brings his mother peace and happiness.
