Changyuan County, Xinxiang: Teaches for the Hangyuan Number 10 Middle School went on strike to protest restrictions they said were endangering the school. On Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, City Communist Party secretary Bo Xuebin ordered  police to the scene. They beat unarmed the unarmed teachers. Three suffered broken bones, more than 10 were severely injured, more than 20 were detained and up to six people are missing.

A witness said: Someone wanted to take over Number 10 Middle School. They first took over an adjacent property, then merged staff. Then they wouldn’t let the middle school recruit students, and pressured its existence. They took over the school’s eastern yard, preventing the school from recruiting more students, and now don’t want the school to be listed as an ordinary senior middle school, only permitting it to recruit vocational students. It’s a municipal-level model senior middle school with a provincial-level staff. A 4,500-student, 400-teacher senior middle school is being squeezed out of existence.
