Boxun reports that the upcoming October 1 PRC 60th anniversary National Day celebration is the biggest mass event since last summer’s Olympics. More than 100,000 Beijing high, middle, and primary school students have been rehearsing for months under the common slogan “The Motherland’s Honor Above All!” The highlight will be the 10 minutes the country’s leaders review the formation as it passes by the Tiananmen rostrum, where Chairman Mao reviewed the Red Guards from during the Cultural Revolution. Since Boxun first reported this story on August 3, the government has banned publication of photos like those below. It seems they became aware that this kind of mass mobilization is more along the lines of North Korea’s dictatorship and not in accordance with international norms of treatment of children in their hot summer school vacation.
