Tian Qizhuang and Colleagues Continue to Work at Open Constitution Initiative (Gongmeng); Xu Zhiyong and Colleague Being Held in Beijing Number One Detention Center

Boxun reports that in spite of Gongmeng being fined 1.42 million yuan (US$209,000) by the National Taxation Bureau and Land Tax Bureau, and being closed down as an “illegal organization” by the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau, and its director Xu Zhiyong and another staff member Zhuang Lu being in police detention, the Gongmeng office is still open and people are still working. Office director Tian Qizhuang reported that on Monday August 3 two staff members went to Beijing #1 Detention Center to deliver money and supplies for Xu and Zhuang per police instructions. No formal paperwork has yet been issued about their detention.
