Boxun reports that Jiangsu Province, Changzhou City, Xinbei District’s Ms. Hong Meihua reported a local official for illegally requisitioning land. He felt he had no choice but to petition the case to Beijing, so on July 3, 2008 Hong Meihua went to Beijing but was detained by Changzhou security officials and forcibly returned to his hometown and held in an illegal jail. When her husband went to visit her and deliver medicine, he was detained too on the charge of “Disrupting Social Order” and remains incarcerated. Although the case has twice been handed back to the prosecutor for lack of evidence, on July 9, 2009 the case was brought to trial. But when the trial opened they would not allow the defendants family to attend! What is really hard to believe is that they would not even allow the defendants lawyer to enter the court! It was under these circumstances that a fight broke out and the defendants wife and son were beaten bloody by the judicial police. It is due to these circumstances that there is a popular saying in China: “Going to court is less useful than going to a whore house!”
